Hawaii 2012 is underway

The Hawaiian season is officially under way with the waiting period of the Triple Crown of Surfing kicking off on 12 November; all we need now is the waves that go with it! It has been a small start to the season and things are not looking very promising for the first event, The Reef Hawaiian Pro held at Haleiwa from 12 -23 November.

South Africans competing in the first event include Travis Logie, Roy Bryson, Shaun Joubert, Dale Staples and Rudy Palmboom. All of these surfer charge the solid Hawaiian surf and will be hoping the small surf will increase soon and provide the good scoring potential the big right hand bowls that Haleiwa can deliver.

The Reef Hawaiian Pro is the first of the triple crown events followed by the Vans World Cup Of Surfing at Sunset Beach and then the Jewel of the crown, The infamous Billabong Pipeline Masters held in the exciting and bone crushing waves of the Banzai Pipeline.

I would like to give the Women’s leg of the Hawaiian ASP World tour a mention but there is nothing to mention. The Place you have to go to prove your worth as a surfer has no Womens event this year,  pretty sad when you see how much they have improved over recent years.
